The purple spaghetti eel (Moringua raitaborua) is a unique, slender fish species that resembles a long, thin strand of spaghetti. It has a striking purplish hue, with a body that can reach up to 40 cm (16 inches) in length. Native to Southeast Asia, this eel is typically found in slow-moving freshwater rivers, swamps, and estuaries but does best in brackish tank environments. Despite its eel-like appearance, it is not a true eel but belongs to the family Moringuidae. The purple spaghetti eel is a burrower, often hiding in soft substrates, and has a carnivorous diet, feeding on small invertebrates and larvae.
