The Orange Back Fairy Wrasse is a vibrant, small saltwater fish prized for its striking coloration and active personality. Males display brilliant orange backs contrasting with blue and yellow markings, while females show more subdued hues. These wrasses are energetic swimmers that bring dynamic movement to reef and fish-only aquariums.
Hardy and relatively easy to care for, they thrive in established tanks with plenty of live rock for hiding and foraging. They feed on small crustaceans and prepared foods, making them excellent for controlling unwanted pests like copepods and amphipods. Best kept singly or in pairs, they can be territorial with other wrasses.
Ideal water conditions include temperatures between 72–78°F, stable salinity, and good water flow. A minimum 55-gallon tank is recommended to accommodate their active nature. Their curious behavior and stunning appearance make them a favorite among both beginner and experienced aquarists looking to add color and life to their marine setup.
