Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus lubbocki)
The Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse is a beautiful and peaceful reef fish admired for its vibrant blend of lavender, pink, orange, yellow, and electric blue coloration. Males display especially brilliant colors that intensify during courtship and social displays, creating an incredible flash of color as they swim through the aquarium. Active, hardy, and reef safe, this fairy wrasse is an outstanding addition to both beginner and advanced marine aquariums.
Native to the coral reefs of Indonesia and the Philippines, Lubbock's Fairy Wrasses inhabit reef slopes and lagoons where they spend their days swimming above rockwork in search of tiny crustaceans and zooplankton. In the home aquarium, they thrive in mature reef systems with abundant live rock, caves for retreat, and plenty of open swimming space. A secure, tight-fitting lid is essential, as fairy wrasses are excellent jumpers.
Lubbock's Fairy Wrasses are carnivores and eagerly accept a varied diet of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality marine pellets or flakes. Multiple small feedings throughout the day help maintain their vivid coloration and active metabolism.
Their peaceful temperament makes them excellent tank mates for clownfish, gobies, blennies, cardinalfish, anthias, dwarf angelfish, tangs, and other peaceful wrasses. They are completely reef safe and can be kept with corals, ornamental shrimp, snails, and other reef invertebrates without concern.
