In the aquarium, they appreciate planted tanks with driftwood, open swimming areas, and stable water conditions. As highly social fish, they should always be kept in schools of at least six individuals, though groups of ten or more showcase their graceful swimming and vibrant colors most effectively.
Longfin Neon Tetras are omnivores and readily accept high-quality micro pellets, crushed tropical flakes, frozen baby brine shrimp, daphnia, Cyclops, and other small live or frozen foods. A varied diet helps maintain their vivid coloration and supports healthy fin development.
Their exceptionally peaceful nature makes them ideal companions for Corydoras, Pygmy Corydoras, rasboras, Otocinclus, dwarf gouramis, Apistogramma, German Blue Rams, freshwater shrimp, and other gentle community fish. Because of their flowing fins, they should not be housed with known fin-nipping species.
