GloFish Cory Catfish (Corydoras aeneus)
The GloFish Cory Catfish is a colorful and energetic version of the popular Bronze Corydoras, combining the peaceful personality and entertaining behavior of a classic Cory Catfish with the brilliant fluorescent coloration GloFish are known for. Their vibrant colors become especially striking under blue aquarium lighting, while their active bottom-dwelling behavior makes them a fun and eye-catching addition to freshwater community aquariums.
GloFish Cory Catfish are captive-bred fish developed from the hardy Bronze Corydoras. Like their traditional counterparts, they thrive in well-maintained aquariums with soft sand or smooth gravel, plants, driftwood, and plenty of areas to explore. Corydoras use their sensitive barbels to search the substrate for food, so sharp or abrasive substrates should be avoided.
These catfish are highly social and should be kept in groups of at least six individuals. Keeping a proper-sized group helps them feel secure and encourages their natural schooling, resting, and foraging behaviors. They are active throughout the aquarium but spend much of their time exploring the bottom in search of food.
GloFish Cory Catfish are omnivores and readily accept high-quality sinking pellets, wafers, frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, daphnia, and other appropriately sized foods. Although they may consume food that reaches the bottom of the aquarium, they are not simply "cleanup fish" and should receive dedicated feedings to ensure proper nutrition.
Their exceptionally peaceful temperament makes them excellent companions for GloFish Tetras, Danios, Rasboras, peaceful livebearers, Gouramis, dwarf cichlids, and many other non-aggressive community fish. They can also be kept in planted aquariums, where their bright coloration creates a dramatic contrast against green foliage.
