African Glass Catfish (Pareutropius debauwi)

Native to the rivers and floodplains of Central and West Africa, African Glass Catfish inhabit slow-moving waters rich in aquatic vegetation and submerged wood. In the aquarium, they thrive in well-planted tanks with subdued lighting, gentle water movement, and plenty of open swimming space. These highly social fish should always be kept in groups of at least six individuals, with larger schools displaying more natural behavior and greater confidence.
African Glass Catfish are omnivores that readily accept high-quality micro pellets, tropical flakes, frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, daphnia, and other small live or frozen foods. A varied diet helps maintain their health, activity level, and subtle iridescent coloration.
Their peaceful nature makes them ideal tank mates for tetras, rasboras, Corydoras, peaceful gouramis, rainbowfish, dwarf cichlids, and other non-aggressive community fish. They prefer stable water conditions with excellent filtration and regular maintenance, rewarding aquarists with active schooling displays and fascinating behavior.
