Fire Fin Compressiceps are a neat predatory species of cichlid originating from Lake Tanganyika in Africa! This species has a specialized head shape that allows them to hunt for food amongst the rocky crevices found in their native habitat! This fish pairs well with other fish from Lake Tanganyika like Julidochromis, Tropheus and Frontosa, however they will prey on smaller tankmates like Multis/Similis, so some consideration into who may be viewed as food will save you some heartache!! A single adult can be kept on 40-50 gallons, however if you are keeping more than one Compressiceps together or one with other fish, a larger tank of 100 gallons or more is recommended.
