They thrive in spacious aquariums with open swimming areas, excellent filtration, strong water movement, and secure lids, as they are powerful swimmers capable of jumping.
Colombian Shark Catfish are omnivorous and eagerly accept sinking carnivore pellets, shrimp pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, krill, bloodworms, chopped seafood, and other meaty foods. A varied diet helps support healthy growth and maintain their vibrant silver coloration.
These fish are peaceful but highly active and should be kept in groups of at least three to reduce stress and encourage natural schooling behavior. They are best housed with other large, active fish that tolerate brackish or marine conditions. Due to their eventual size and environmental requirements, they are not suitable for typical freshwater community aquariums.
