Care Level: Intermediate Tank Size: Minimum 75 gallons for a single specimen. Larger tanks accommodate more active swimming and reduce territorial stress. Compatibility: Best kept singly or with large, aggressive fish species. Not recommended with smaller fish, shrimp, or delicate invertebrates, as predatory instincts may be triggered. Avoid housing with other wrasses unless tank is exceptionally large. Diet: Omnivorous. Feeds on small crustaceans, mollusks, and invertebrates in the wild. In captivity, offer a varied diet including frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, quality pellets, and occasional live foods. Feed 2–3 times daily in appropriate portions. Temperament: Active, curious, and bold. Displays engaging hunting behavior and constant movement throughout the tank. Can be territorial toward conspecifics and similarly sized wrasses. May harass peaceful tank mates. Jumps readily—a secure, fitted aquarium lid is essential.
