Native to the blackwater peat swamps and slow-moving forest streams of Borneo, the Blue Neon Rasbora thrives in heavily planted aquariums with subdued lighting, dark substrate, and plenty of driftwood and leaf litter. These fish are highly social and should always be kept in schools of at least 8–10 individuals. Larger groups encourage natural schooling behavior, reduce stress, and produce the most impressive display of color and movement.
Blue Neon Rasboras prefer mature aquariums with stable water conditions and gentle water flow. Their small mouths require appropriately sized foods, including high-quality crushed flakes, nano pellets, baby brine shrimp, microworms, daphnia, and other tiny frozen or live foods. A varied diet helps maintain their vivid blue coloration and supports optimal health.
Their peaceful temperament makes them ideal tank mates for other nano fish, small Corydoras, peaceful shrimp, otocinclus, and similarly sized community species. Because of their delicate size, they should not be housed with larger or aggressive fish that may outcompete them for food or view them as prey.
