How adorable is this Hairy Puffer!? These guys grow to be about 5” long and are true freshwater puffers. They need at least 20 gallons and very clean, well oxygenated water. The water in their aquarium should move pretty rapidly to ensure they are getting enough oxygen. They are not very active and need sandy substrate to ensure their soft bellies are not harmed. Even though the water in the aquarium should be moving a lot, rocks and other decorations should give them a spot to be able to lay at the bottom and not have to fight a strong current. Hairy puffers are carnivorous and should not be kept with any other fish. They should be fed things such as clams, crayfish, snails and mussels. All pictures shown are for illustration purposes only.
